WE Build Attends WorkAdvance Event

Students from the Willoughby South WE Build program attended the Alliance for Working Together (AWT) two-day High School WorkAdvance event.
During the event, students took part in several sessions covering blueprint reading, shop math, metrics and measurement, and the art of machining. In addition, they had the opportunity to complete individual interviews with several participating companies.
This was a great opportunity for our students to learn more about the field and hear first-hand accounts of what it’s like to work in the construction industry.

South High Retires Kareem Hunt's Jersey

Willoughby South High School proudly honored alumnus and NFL running back Kareem Hunt during the 2025 Homecoming game this September. Hunt’s iconic #3 jersey was officially retired in a special ceremony, and a commemorative decal was unveiled on the home side of the stadium to celebrate his achievements and lasting legacy.

A 2013 graduate, Kareem was a standout athlete during his time at South. He earned All-Northeast Ohio, All-County, All-League, and All-State honors in football in both 2011 and 2012. He also set school records in track and field in the High Jump, Long Jump, 100-meter dash, and 4x100-meter relay.

Following his high school career, Kareem earned a full scholarship to the University of Toledo, where he continued to excel on the field. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and later returned home to play for the Cleveland Browns before rejoining the Chiefs.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Kareem remains an active supporter of the South Rebels. He frequently gives back to the community through his annual youth football camp and by visiting whenever his schedule allows.

We are deeply grateful to Kareem and his family for their continued support of Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. Once a Rebel, always a Rebel!
